Hockey Hall of Famer Doug Gilmour is launching a campaign to raise money for the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.
The campaign called ‘Let’s Do it for Gordie‘ will run from November 23 to December 30.
“If there’s one thing Canadians love, it’s hockey. And The Tragically Hip. We love The Hip. So, when I heard that my friend Gord Downie was facing the biggest challenge of his life, I felt the need to help in the best way I know how: bring together my friends in the hockey community and fans everywhere to support this important cause,” said Gilmour in a statement.
People can donate as little as $10 to be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Toronto where you will hang out with Gilmour in a private box at the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Chicago Blackhawks game on March 18, 2017. The winner and guest will receive round-trip flights and a two-night stay at a 4-star hotel.
Other rewards will be up for grabs depending on the level of donation, including a digital thank you email from Gilmour, clothing items, a stick used during the 1989 Stanley Cup final’s, a signed custom Gilmour jersey and Gilmour’s personal Harley-Davidson.
Donations can be made online through Boon-Town.
