LCBO workers move toward strike

LCBO workers have given their union a strong strike mandate of 95%.

Their four year contract expired at the end of March and the union says the two sides have been bargaining since mid-February with little progress. Talks resume Wednesday and at this point there are no plans for a strike anytime soon. The union wants to make pay for part-time workers more comparable with full-timers and wants wage and benefit increases for all workers. Right now a part-time cashier at the LCBO makes just over $20 an hour.
