The Lakeshore Music and Arts Festival is set to take place this weekend with Burlington’s own Walk off the Earth headlining Saturday night at Spencer Smith Park.

Walk off the Earth is anticipated to take the main stage at 9 p.m., which is set up closer to the pier.

“It’s truly just a celebration of how this city has supported us over so many years and to just bring it all back home and celebrate with the hometown crowd before we ship out for a really busy summer here,” says Joel Cassady, the drummer for Walk off the Earth.

Performances from two Toronto-based Canadian singer-songwriters Avery Raquel and Dominique Way are also something attendees can look forward to.

Musical acts such as Alvin Presley, an alternative indie rock artist based in Toronto, and Frank Mighty, a Canadian artist from Calgary, will be playing on the west stage near the Joseph Brant Museum.

On Sunday, The Trews are expected to headline on the main stage at 8:30 p.m. in addition to performances from Hamilton-based indie rock band Lost Faculty and Toronto-based hip-hop artist Dynesti.

Adam Vickers from the Lakeshore Music and Arts Festival says they are really focusing on showcasing hyper local talent, allowing attendees to possibly leave with a new favourite band.

Some minor road closures are set to take place on Lakeshore Road from Elizabeth Street to Maple Avenue from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. this weekend.

Additional road closures will be in place Saturday morning for the annual Burlington Summer Music Parade happening at 10 a.m.
