One person is in hospital after a fire broke out at a house in Hamilton’s east end.
Firefighters began responding to the emergency on 129 Rosslyn Ave. N at around 1:41 a.m. Friday.
The fire department says one woman from the home was treated for minor smoke inhalation and was brought to the hospital as a precaution. No one else has reportedly been injured.
Authorities say the fire at the corner of Rosslyn and Roxborough avenues was quickly contained and extensive spread to a neighbouring home was prevented.
Firefighters say the fire is suspected to have originated in the kitchen.
The Hamilton Fire Chief says the damage is estimated to cost about $1 million to $1.5 million.
The Chief says the Office of the Fire Marshall has been notified due to this significant dollar loss.
Firefighters are still on scene to ensure the fire does not reignite.
