Ontario labour minister Yasir Naqvi is criticizing Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath for not taking a stance on the Liberals recent announcement to increase minimum wage.

“You have Andrea Horwath who won’t commit to anything substantive. She will not speak about important issues to our economy as to how we should grow our economy, how do we help hard working Ontarions.”

Naqvi also took aim at PC leader Tim Hudak’s controversial right-to-work policies, saying they would be devastating for the Ontario economy.

“You have Tim Hudak who is on a crusade on hard-working Ontarians through his Wisconsin style right-to-work for less policy. even his own party is trying to seek some clarity and asking him to come out clean as to what kind of damage he’s going to do to our economy.”

“By bringing such a right to work type of policy which will drive down wages and weaken health and safety laws in our province.”

It comes as the Liberals introduce new legislation that will tie future increases in the minimum wage to the rate of inflation. The province increased the minimum wage 75 cents to $11 an hour. That increase is set to take effect June 1st.
