Labor Day

From Up In the Air director Jason Reitman, Labor Day stars Kate Winslet as the reclusive, single mother Adele. When she and her 13-year-old son Henry venture out of her comfort zone on a back to school shopping trip, they come across Frank (Josh Brolin), a mysterious wounded man in need of assistance. Adele and her son, played by newcomer Gattlin Griffith, bring the stranger home only to discover that he is an escaped felon and they are now his hostages. As the situation unfolds, Adele finds that there is more to Frank than meets the eye.
Labor Day is narrated by Tobey McGuire who plays an older Henry looking back on the strange weekend that shaped his life. Reitman is known for character driven pieces and Labor Day promises to be no different. The Canadian director premiered the film at last year’s TIFF to mixed reviews. Reitman has an incredible track record as a director having earned two Best Director Oscar nominations for his films Up In the Air and Juno.
