Kachkar makes court appearance
The man accused of running down a Toronto police officer with a stolen snowplow now has a lawyer.
44-year-old Richard Kachkar had made court appearances before but had his case put over until he found a lawyer.
His lawyer has requested and been granted more time for disclosure in the case.
The case will now be put over until February 24th.
Kachkar was shot and arrested January 12th about an hour after Sgt. Ryan Russell was struck while trying to stop the plow.
He’s charged with first degree murder and two counts of attempted murder related to another officer and a taxi driver.
He has been in custody at the Maplehurst correctional complex in Milton since his release from hospital but appeared on a video link this morning from Toronto’s Metro West Detention Centre.
In court, Kachkar’s left arm is still in a sling.
