Human remains found in Fort Erie

Niagara Regional Police say human remains have been found on a property in Fort Erie.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with second degree murder as well as causing an indignity to a dead human body.

Homicide detectives are searching a property on Pettit Rd. in Fort Erie. It’s a secluded wooded area.

At around 10 a.m. yesterday morning, Niagara Regional Police were called to the property to check on the welfare of an individual. Police say the tactical unit and negotiators were on scene for over five hours.

James Dylan Osbourne was arrested without incident around 3 p.m..

Police say the property will be searched for several days. The human remains were found outdoors.

The accused appeared at Sopinka Courthouse. Neighbours say the man who lived on the property is Mike Osborne, and that they haven’t seen him in over a week.

Police are working with medical experts to positively identify the victim.

Police did confirm they are known to each other, but were unable to confirm statements by neighbours who believe the victim and the accused are father and son.
