Hearings to be held today on Rogers outage

Two hearings are being held today about the Rogers outage on July 8 that left millions of Canadians without service.
The House of Commons industry committee is holding the hearings. The outage affected Rogers mobile and internet users, knocked out ATMs and Interac payment systems, as well as prevented calls to 911 services in some cities.
Innovation Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne, officials from the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission and Rogers executives are set to testify at the hearings.
The hearing is expected to answer questions regarding the cause of the outage, its effects and how to prevent it from happening again.
The industry committee held a meeting on July 15 where it voted unanimously to open an investigation into the outage.
