Hamilton’s oldest public house and brewery closes due to rising costs

Hamilton’s oldest public house and brewery has closed.
The owners of The George Hamilton Restaurant & Brewery at the corner of King and Bay streets blame costs that have risen significantly since the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a lengthy Facebook post, the owners say they haven’t had extra sales to cover those costs since the Hamilton Bulldogs moved to Brantford.
They say another contributing factor was the death of a landlord who helped them out.
The post thanks loyal staff at the downtown brewery and all of the customers who supported them over the years.
