Hamilton trying to head off civic strike

About 40 per cent of the Hamilton’s outside workers could walk off the job at midnight.

The list of workers poised for job action includes everyone from students mowing lawns, to landscape architects and garbage collectors. Garbage and green cart collection will stop if you live in lower Hamilton, Dundas, Flamborough, and North Ancaster. The rest of the city is collected by contractors, and unaffected.

Almost three thousand kids are already registered in day camps that will be cancelled if the strike happens.

CUPE members want four and a quarter per cent raises over two years. The city is offering four per cent over four years.
