A Hamilton support worker has been charged with fraud after she allegedly skimmed nearly $300,000 from people with developmental disabilities.

Hamilton police say the support worker cared for multiple vulnerable residents of Community Living Hamilton from Dec. 15, 2022 to Jan. 16, 2025.

The 44-year-old woman allegedly gained access to the residents’ bank accounts under the promise of assisting them with their finances.

Investigators say she diverted more than $277,000 into her account over that time.

On June 19, police arrested and charged Pamela Ellis with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
