Hamilton man charged after police seize over $200K in cash, $18K in drugs

A Hamilton man is facing multiple charges after police recovered over $200,000 in cash and nearly $18,000 in drugs over the course of a five-month investigation.

Hamilton police opened the case on Jan. 27 after receiving a report of suspicious activity.

Officers carried out a search warrant on April 17 at a condo building on Charlton Avenue East and in a vehicle. They seized approximately CAD $11,000, about $12,100 worth of cocaine, nearly $4,800 in fentanyl, around $1,000 worth of Dilaudid pills, and nearly $100 in Oxycodone pills, two cell phones, and two TD Bank safety deposit box keys.

Investigators then recovered CAD $100,000 after finding a safety deposit box on April 30 at 100 King St. West.

The next day, police seized another CAD $80,000 from a second safety deposit box at 550 Fennell Ave. East.

A final search warrant was executed on May 28 at the same location, where they recovered CAD $20,000 from a third safety deposit box.

Hamilton police arrested 53-year-old Mario Raffaelle Visocchi and he remains in custody. He has been charged with several drug trafficking-related offences.
