Hamilton police shut down illegal magic mushroom store, arrest one man

Hamilton police have charged one man following the closure of an illegal psilocybin storefront in the city’s east end.

In January, officers began investigating a business operating as “Shroom Godz” located at 1466 Main St. East.

On Feb. 13, a search warrant was executed at the business, resulting in the arrest of Hamilton resident 21-year-old Wesley Chevrier.

Authorities seized approximately 1,642 grams of psilocybin in various packaged forms.

As a result of the investigation, Chevrier has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule III Substance (Psilocybin), contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Police are reminding the public that psilocybin remains a controlled substance under federal law.
