Hamilton police share video from Thursday’s Red Hill Valley Trail shooting

Hamilton police have shared new surveillance video from the Red Hill Valley Trail shooting near Melvin Avenue that happened on Thursday.

Investigators have determined that a grey or silver Acura RDX pulled up to the corner of Talbot Street and Melvin Avenue at around 4 a.m. and four people exited the car and walked into the Red Hill Valley Trail.

Officers say that moments after they walked into the trail, gunshots were heard.

Police have found more than 20 bullet casings in the area which seem to have originated from two different guns.

Detectives say there are still many unknowns associated with this shooting. There is no known victim, or intended target, no reported injuries and no damage.

Police are hoping someone recognizes the vehicle in the video and contacts them with additional information.

Residents and drivers in the area are asked to check any CCTV or dashcam footage between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. for suspicious activity.
