Hamilton police charged an 85-year-old man Thursday, after an 83-year-old man was struck and killed while walking his dog on Upper Ottawa Street in Hamilton last month.
Officers say the collision happened just before 10 a.m. in the area of Upper Ottawa Street and Anson Avenue on Nov. 20.
The 83-year-old man from Hamilton was walking his dog westbound in the crosswalk, when he was hit by a red, four-door sedan that was going northbound.
The man was transported to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries. Officers say the dog was not injured.
The 85-year-old man, who was driving the sedan, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
The 85-year-old was charged with careless driving causing death under the Highway Traffic Act, and is scheduled to appear at a courthouse in February.
