Hamilton police are investigating a home invasion that happened in the East Mountain neighbourhood in the early morning hours Wednesday.

According to officials, a group of masked suspects broke into an occupied house in the area of Highland Road West and Winterberry Drive around 3:20 a.m.

The suspects reportedly stole cash, jewelry, and two vehicles.

Police description indicates the vehicles stolen from the property are a newer model white Honda Civic, and an older model silver Honda CRV.

Before driving off with the stolen material, one of the suspects allegedly brandished a handgun to witnesses.

Police said in a release Thursday afternoon they believe the incident was “targeted, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.”

At this time, no suspect descriptions have been released.

Officers are asking residents and businesses in the area this invasion took place to review any surveillance video they might have.

Anyone with information is asked to contact a staff sergeant at 905-546-2963.
