Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 72-year-old woman with early-onset dementia.

Gunta Hagar was last seen at her home in Dundas around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

She is described as five-foot-three, 155 lbs, with red shoulder-length hair. Hagar was last seen wearing a floral top and pink shorts. Police say she was driving a 2018 red Kia Stinger.

They say Hagar told her husband she was heading out to get gas but failed to return home. Her husband became concerned and contacted police around 3 a.m.

Cst. Indy Bharaj said this is not the first time Hagar has driven away and become lost. “A few months ago, Gunta got lost while driving and was located in Grimsby. Prior to that, Gunta wandered off to her daughter’s residence, in the City of Burlington,” said Bharaj. “Both police and family are concerned for her safety and are asking for assistance from the Hamilton and neighbouring cities.”

Hamilton police have notified Niagara Regional Police Service and Halton Regional Police of the senior’s disappearance.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact police.
