Hamilton police investigating after body found in harbour near Wilcox Street

Police are investigating after a body was found in the Hamilton Harbour Friday morning.

Authorities say the body was found in the water near Stelco but have not made a connection between this investigation and the steel company.

At approximately 8 a.m., officers learned of a body in the water near 386 Wilcox St. N.

Officers say the incident is suspicious. The homicide unit is on scene investigating.

Detectives have shared minimal details about the person found in the water.

Police say post-mortem autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.

The Ministry of Labour says they have not been notified of the investigation at this time.
