Hamilton police report intercepting a potential jewelry store robbery at Eastgate Mall Wednesday afternoon involving at least four people.
Officers say at around 4 p.m., they were conducting proactive patrols of jewelry stores in the mall. They say during their patrol, four people with their faces covered had entered the mall, while armed with a sledgehammer and crowbars.
Police posted on X at around 5:14 p.m., which said detectives had, at the time, believed the four suspects to be males.

They say when the four males saw police, they left the area in a black sedan driven by a fifth person.
Investigators say they believe the four were planning a jewelry store snag and grab.
Officers are continuing to work on obtaining detailed descriptions of the suspects, and are concerned the group may attempt to target another business.
