Hamilton police arrest four men in connection with 2024 shooting

Police have arrested four men believed to be responsible for two separate shootings in Hamilton in May and June 2024.
The first shooting happened on May 26, 2024 just after 10 p.m. when a stolen vehicle entered a housing complex at 2 Oriole Cres. and fired multiple rounds at vehicles and an unoccupied residence.
No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
Authorities say the shooting was in retaliation for an earlier incident in April 2024.
The following four men were arrested as a result of the investigation:
- Oliver Htoo, 19, of Hamilton
- Peter Nguyen, 19, of Hamilton
- Alexander La, 24, Hamilton
- An 18-year-old male, a youth at the time of the shooting
The group of men are facing the following charges:
- Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (×2)
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle with Knowledge of Firearm Presence (×2)
- Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Firearm – Loaded (×2)
- Vehicle Theft
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
During the course of the investigation, detectives uncovered evidence of a previously unreported shooting believed to have occurred in June 2024 along the Bruce Trail near Highway 6 in Dundas.
Officers say no one was injured as a result of this shooting.
Htoo and Nguyen face additional charges in connection with the June 2024 shooting:
- Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Loaded Firearm
