Burlington swim club in dispute with city hall over pool time

Parents and young swimmers from a Burlington swim club are locked in a dispute with city hall over access to pool time for training.

The Burlington Aquatic Devilrays swim club says they were rejected pool time in the city because of a technicality that requires at least 85 per cent of registered participants to be Burlington residents.

The Devilrays say more than 85 per cent of their swimmers are from Burlington.

The group also said the city is preparing to hand over the city’s pool time to swimmers from Hamilton — specifically the Golden Horseshoe Aquatic Club.

CHCH News received a statement from the club on Wednesday saying their membership spans multiple communities, and that their swimmer base may vary year to year — but consistently includes a significant number of Burlington residents.

They say they maintain over 85 per cent of Burlington swimmers, and they intend to uphold this.
