Hamilton police arrest 5 following Ancaster jewellery store robbery

Hamilton police services arrested five people following a robbery at an Ancaster jewellery store Thursday night.

Officers responded to a call just before 9 p.m. to a robbery in progress at Ancaster Jewellers.

Police say a vehicle had reversed through the front window of the store.

The five suspects allegedly pointed a gun at the owner of the store before smashing the display cases.

Investigators say the owner was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This robbery follows after an increase of jewellery store thefts within the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas.
