5 suspects at large following violent robbery at Richmond Hill jewellery store

York regional police are looking for five suspects involved with a violent robbery Monday afternoon at a jewellery store in Richmond Hill.

Officers say at around 4 p.m. four suspects entered the st0re in the area of Yonge Street and Carrville Road demanding cash. They also say a fifth suspect was waiting in a stolen Nissan Maxima while the robbery took place.

Investigators say one suspect allegedly assaulted an employee while the other three smashed open display cases. The suspects then allegedly stole a quantity of jewellery and fled in the awaiting car, which was later recovered by police.

Detectives say the employee suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault.

Police say one suspect is a white man, who was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes.

They describe the other three suspects who entered the store as Black men, all wearing black clothing.

Investigators say each suspect was wearing masks and gloves.

Officers say they do not have a description of the suspect waiting in the stolen car.
