Hamilton man dies from injuries in Westdale incident

The 27-year-old Hamilton man who fell from a moving jeep early Monday morning died on Wednesday.

Joey Flaherty had been in hospital in critical condition.

Ryan Grant, a 33-year-old off-duty Brantford police officer, will have charges upgraded to impaired driving causing death at his next court appearance in September.

Grant and Flaherty were friends and were at a baseball tournament Sunday night before going out to a “couple of bars”.

Flaherty fell from the jeep as it turned a corner, and hit his head on the pavement.

Grant is out on a $25,000 bail and has had his license suspended.

He is also suspended from the Brantford police force.
