Investigators say that this turn caused another driver of a gray 2020 Ford F150 pickup truck who was heading westbound on Carlton Street to swerve to avoid colliding with the accused’s vehicle.

As a result, the second vehicle struck the crossing guard who was standing off of the roadway. The accused did not remain at the scene.

The crossing guard, a 79-year-old woman, was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries but has since been released and is recovering at home.
