An exotic bird sanctuary in Hamilton is searching for a donor to fund its urgent need of a new home.

The Hamilton Aviary was notified that it must move from its current location at 85 Oak Knoll Dr. due to deteriorating conditions and aging infrastructure.

“If we don’t find a suitable location quickly, we will be forced to rehome our birds,” said Executive Director Jennifer White in a press release Tuesday.

The 96-year-old aviary says a “generous donation” is necessary, “specifically earmarked” for rehabilitating and retraining its flock of 18 parrots and six finches who have been displaced.

It is also looking for an existing building that is on a city bus route.

Volunteers with the Hamilton Aviary feed and care for the birds every day of the year. Their team and programs help the public develop a deeper knowledge of what the exotic birds are capable of as well.
