Halton police identified the elderly man who approached children in Burlington on Tuesday and determined there was no criminal offense or threat to public safety.

Officers say at around 3:30 p.m. a small group of students were walking home from school in the area of Spruce Avenue and Meadowhill Road, when a man allegedly approached them and offered them a ride home.

Investigators say the kids did not stop or speak to the man, who subsequently left the area on foot.

None of the children were reported injured and the man did not make any physical contact with them.
