Halton police charge 61-year-old Brampton man with child luring

Halton police have arrested a Brampton, Ont. man for allegedly luring children through social media platforms.

Officers say 61-year-old Joseph Hunter has been charged with:

  • Two counts of luring a child under 16
  • Making sexually explicit material available to a child
  • Possess child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Making child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Inviting sexual touching

Detectives say the accused would use various social media platforms under the user name “joel20261443.”

Halton police say Hunter was also the subject of an investigation in Hamilton which led to the charges.

Investigators are concerned there may be more victims and are asking anyone who may have been victimized by the accused, or anyone who may have additional information pertaining to this investigation to contact Det. Const. Barger at 905-825-4747 ext. 8974.
