Grimsby Plane Crash

A 77 year old man is in hospital after the plane he was piloting crashed in a farmers field near the Grimsby Air Park.

The small one seater plane took off Saturday morning from the Grimsby Air Park and crashed almost immediately.

The cause is still unknown, but the pilot is lucky to be alive.

It was just after 11:30am, the pilot is a 77 year old man from the area. He was conscious and alert when paramedics arrived. The pilot was taken to Hamilton General Hospital with injuries to his head and torso.

The plane, a small Vans RV 6 or 7 was assembled by the owner.
