The Great Beauty

Celebrated Italian director Paolo Sorrentino re-teams with regular collaborator Toni Servillo for The Great Beauty. Servillo plays Jep, the ageing king of Rome’s bustling nightlife scene. Haunted in his old age by a life of unfulfilled artistic ambitions, Jep casts his cynical journalistic eye on the world he created for himself: a world of elaborate parties attended by shallow socialites, false celebrity, and abandoned ideals.

The Great Beauty explores fleeting moments of pleasure against the striking backdrop of the Eternal City of Rome. The film is nominated for a Best Foreign Language Film award at this year’s Oscars.
