Niagara police have arrested one of two people in connection with an investigation of aggravated assault in Niagara Falls near Pin Oak Drive last month.

At around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 21, officers responded to reports of a disturbance in the area of McLeod Road.

When they arrived, they say they found a 23-year-old man with facial injuries, whom they then transported to hospital.

Investigators say the victim had been walking southbound on Pin Oak Drive, when he was allegedly confronted by a man driving a red Dodge Ram pickup truck, as it attempted to leave a business onto the road.

The victim was then allegedly struck several times with a closed fist, before the driver re-entered his vehicle and fled the area.

Police arrested 31-year-old Edward Courty of Fort Erie Wednesday, and charged him with aggravated assault.

Courty was held for a bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse Thursday.

Officers have not revealed the identity of the passenger that was seen in the vehicle during the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (905) 688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009817.
