Fort Erie house gutted in early morning fire

An early morning fire gutted a house in Fort Erie.

It started just before 5 a.m. on Young Avenue in Ridgeway.

Fort Erie firefighters spent a good part of the day extinguishing hot spots. Firefighters not only had to battle the blaze, but a severe wind storm underway at the time.

The home is located only about a block from the shore of Lake Erie, where winds were gusting as high as 90 km/h during the early morning hours.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
