Ford orders Pride flag removed

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has ordered staff to take down a rainbow flag recently put up outside city hall.

The flag at issue was raised to show support for gay people in Russia as the Winter Olympics begin in Sochi. Ford says he wants a Canadian flag raised instead.

He says the Olympics are about being patriotic to your country, not about “someone’s sexual preference.”

Ford has come under fire for his refusal to attend Toronto’s gay Pride Parade.
