First charge laid in robocalls case
A junior conservative campaign worker from Guelph is the first person charged for fraudulent robocalls made during the 2011 federal election campaign.
Elections Canada is investigating hundreds of calls that told non-conservative voters their polling stations had been moved in an apparent attempt to suppress the vote. Michael Sona has repeatedly said he is being made a scapegoat of the Tory party. His lawyer is calling for a public inquiry, saying Sona didn’t have the resources needed to make the calls.
