The Hamilton Fire Department is investigating two separate explosions in the city Thursday morning.

Fire crews were called around 9 a.m. to an explosion at a home located at 8 Lampton Place, near Parkdale Avenue North.

Photos of the scene show that the home has completely collapsed.

There’s no word yet on whether anyone was injured or the cause of the explosion.

Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal is expected to provide an update at 1 p.m.

Nearly two hours earlier around 7:30 a.m., Hamilton Fire responded to a multiple-alarm blaze that caused an explosion at 182 Springside Dr., near Upper James Street and Rymal Road East.

Neighbours in the area tell CHCH News that they heard the large explosion and could feel it from two streets over. They described it as shaking their house.

It appears the fire broke out in a two-car garage behind a home. Videos show the flames were above the house.

Hamilton police told neighbours that people were home when the fire started, but everyone managed to escape safely.

This is a developing story. More to come.
