Environment Canada says parts of southern Ontario will see high winds and snow squalls Monday, as a winter storm blows through northern Ontario and Ottawa.
The weather agency says strong southwest winds are expected to develop throughout the day with the passage of a cold front, and shift to the west in the evening.
Environment Canada says the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area will be seeing strong winds gusting at 70 to 90 km/h throughout the day, into Tuesday morning.
They also issued a special weather statement forecasting a mixture of rain, freezing rain, and snow.
Areas in the Halton region are expected to see around 70 km/h, whereas the Hamilton area including Norfolk County, Brant County and the Niagara region could see winds of up to 90 km/h.
The agency warns that high winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break, and that local utility outages are possible.
Grand Erie Public Health issued a cold notification Monday for the Grand Erie Public Health region — Brantford-Brant and Haldimand-Norfolk — as a precaution.
