Early morning house fire in Wainfleet claims one life

Niagara police say an early morning house fire in Wainfleet, Ont.  has claimed the life of one person.

Police say the call came in around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers say Wainfleet Fire and Emergency Services battled the blaze at Forks Road between Young’s Road North and Morog Road.

Firefighters discovered the body of a person inside the structure – the age and sex of the person is currently unknown

Detectives say an adult male victim was found with significant burn injuries and was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

The cause of the fire, along with the cause of death are still under investigation — the roads have since been reopened.
