Early morning Flamborough house fire closes Hwy 8, damages in hundreds of thousands

An early morning house fire on Highway 8 and Middletown Road in Flamborough closed a section of the road and caused an estimated $750,000 in damages.
Over a dozen police and fire units arrived to the property around 4 a.m. to attend to the fully involved blaze.
According to authorities the home owner was not at home at the time of the fire but is aware of the situation.
Hydro One was on scene to help with any power outages and the Office of the Fire Marshal was notified due to the extent of the damage.
CHCH’s Simone Gavros was there and reported that the roof appears to have sustained the most damage and the windows are broken.
Police say it’s too early to determine if the fire was suspicious. No injuries were reported.
Highway 8 was closed for a few hours in the area as crews worked on hot spots.
