Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop led to the seizure of a gun in St. Catharines.
Police say officers were out on general patrol in the area of Manchester Ave. and Hampstead Place around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Officers attempted to stop an Infiniti sedan but the vehicle did not pull over.
It eventually pulled into a parking spot in the area of Manchester Ave. and Whitmore St. when a woman got out and fled the area.
“Officers approached the vehicle and located a male in the driver seat as well as Canadian currency wrapped in a rubber band and a bullet proof vest in plain view,” said police in a news release.
The driver was arrested and a short time later, the woman returned to the vehicle and was also placed under arrest.
Officers searched the car and located a loaded handgun.
Calvin Kostuk, 25, of Simcoe and Victoria Harvey, 27, of St. Catharines were arrested and face numerous firearm charges.
