OPP Haldimand County have laid charges against the driver in a single-vehicle crash in Caledonia that sent three children to hospital.

Police say 41-year-old Amirdad Hammady of Hannon has been charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

The collision took place the evening of June 26, on the Highway 6 bypass South of Greens Road.

One child was sent to an out-of-town hospital with serious injuries.

A second child was transported to an out-of-town hospital with minor injuries and a third child was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver was not hurt and was found with an expired licence. Police say while speaking with the driver, signs of impairment were observed. A road-side test produced an “alert” response. Police served the driver a three-day suspension.

Hammady is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.
