Drugs and a handgun found during police traffic stop in St. Catharines

Niagara police have arrested a man after officers found drugs and a handgun during a traffic stop in St. Catharines.

Police were on patrol at 3:46 a.m. on Saturday in the Riordon St. and Gale Cres. when they saw a 2007 beige Hyundai Santa Fe driving erratically.

Officers conducted a traffic stop where the driver was arrested because he was criminally prohibited from driving a car in Canada.

A search of the man and the car following his arrest resulted in the discovery of fentanyl with a street value of $32,790, crystal meth with a street value of $1,260, cocaine with a street value of $1,150, and a glock 23 handgun with a magazine containing five bullets.

26-year-old Jhon Freddy Flores of no fixed address has been charged with various charges related to drug trafficking, prohibited possession of a firearm, and driving under suspension.
