Dozens of people waited in line for hours this morning outside the Apple Store at Mapleview Shopping Centre in Burlington to get their hands on the newest iPhone.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus officially went on sale today, but only those that pre-ordered their phones, were able to get the iPhone 7 Plus model; others were told that it was sold out, and that only the iPhone 7 was available on a first-come first serve basis.

Apple also announced that the jet black version was also sold out; only the matte black version was available today.

Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were unveiled earlier this month. They both come with features like a faster processor, longer battery life and better cameras. In the 7 Plus, the camera has a dual lens system which provides higher quality zoom capability.

One aspect of the new iPhones that has generated a lot of buzz, is the lack of a headphone jack. The wireless headphones, called “AirPods” retail for $219 CDN.

The iPhone 7, with a 4.7 inch display screen, starts at $899 CDN, the iPhone 7 Plus, with a larger 5.5 inch display, starts at $1049 CDN.
