Doug Ford to extend tax cut on fuel until end of year
Ontario’s tax cuts on fuel may continue until the end of the year.
Premier Doug Ford said his government plans to introduce legislation that, if passed, would extend the ongoing tax cuts until the end of 2024.
Currently, the tax cuts are set to expire June 30. The proposal will come as part of tomorrow’s 2024 budget announcement.
The tax rate for unleaded gasoline, clear diesel, clear kerosene and biodiesel has been discounted since 2022.

Prior to the cut, the gasoline tax rate was 14.7 cents per litre, while the fuel rate was 14.3 cents per litre. Both rates were cut down to 9.0 cents per liter and have held a steady course, since.
Leaded gasoline, propane and aviation fuel do not fall under the cut.
“We know that every dollar helps, and this gas tax cut is another way we’re keeping costs down for Ontario families and businesses,” said Premier Doug Ford.
