Niagara police have arrested the sister to the woman who was killed in Smithville last April as an accessory after the fact, on Thursday.

Homicide detectives have charged 55-year-old Carolyn Prosje in connection to the murder of 62-year-old Cathy Prosje.

Officers found Cathy’s body April 26, 2024 on Lindan Street near Alma Drive.

Police arrested 42-year-old Joseph Villneff of Smithville in October, who had been living with Cathy, and charged him with first-degree murder.

Prosje is being held in custody pending a bail hearing Friday at a St. Catharines courthouse.
