Halton police arrested four teenagers Friday after they allegedly attempted to rob a jewelry store in Oakville Place mall.
Officers say at around 6 p.m., four males entered the shopping mall at 240 Leighland Ave., while wearing dark-coloured clothing, masks and gloves.
They say security officers at Oakville Place intercepted the four, thinking a robbery was about to take place.
The four then left the mall on foot without incident, but were found a short distance away by Halton police.
Investigators say they were found in possession of hammers, disguises and a machete.
As a result of an investigation, officers charged 18-year-old Phoenix Cottle, two 15-year-old boys and one 14-year-old boy, each from Toronto, with offences including robbery, possessing break-in instruments and for possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The 14-year-old boy was released through an undertaking with a future court date in Milton.
The two 15-year-olds were held in custody pending respective bail hearings in Milton.
The Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibits the release of the name of a young person, and therefore, the identities of the young persons charged were not released.
There were no reported injuries to security or any mall patrons.
Detectives say the investigation is ongoing, but they do not believe the four teens are involved in recent Burlington Jewelry store smash and grab robberies.
