Detectives arrest man in connection to thefts in St. Catharines

Niagara police have identified a man in connection with thefts in St. Catharines, leading to his arrest.

On Sunday, Sept. 26, officers responded to an intrusion alarm at a U BREAK I FIX store in the area of Fourth Avenue and First Street Louth.

At around 3:30 a.m. a vehicle backed up to the front of the store. A man got out of the vehicle and broke the glass and entered the store. He stole multiple items and cash. He fled the area in a grey sedan before police arrived.

The man also broke into a Metro Cell Store located in the area of Glendale Avenue and Glengarry Road in St. Catharines. He stole iPhones and cameras worth an excess of $8,000.

On Friday, Oct. 15, the man was arrested by the Toronto Police Service.

Thirty-five-year-old Michael Gibson of North York was charged with theft, two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of failing to comply with probation.

Gibson is in custody awaiting a future court date.
