Investigators say a gas leak is responsible for killing a man and destroying a home in Scarborough yesterday.
The body of Paul Zigomanis, 57, was pulled from the rubble of the house on Brimley south of Steeles.
Emergency crews are sifting through the debris today. One neighbour suffered injuries to her hands.
At least 40 homes were damaged in the blast, and several have been evacuated until they can be inspected for structural damage. An investigator with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office say they don’t what kind of flammable fuel was used, but suggests the blast could have been from migrant gases that went through the soil and into the house’s basement.
Brimley Rd through the area is closed today, and may be until Friday as the investigation and clean-up continue.
