Collision investigation in Brantford leads to two drug trafficking arrests

Brantford police have arrested two men after a collision involving a stolen vehicle led investigators to seize illegal drugs.

On Saturday at around 11 p.m., officers began an investigation into a stolen vehicle that had been involved in a crash near Hamilton Avenue and Colborne Street.

Detectives say the driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene on foot and the car was recovered.

While authorities conducted their investigation a second vehicle was allegedly observed circling the area. Investigators stopped the car and arrested the driver along with the male passenger.

Police searched the vehicle and found 130 grams of methamphetamine, 11.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 3.8 grams of fentanyl and 0.8 grams of cocaine.

As a result, a 40-year-old from Brantford was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The alleged driver of the stolen vehicle is a 34-year-old Brantford man. He has been charged with:

  • Fail to Remain
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with No Licence
  • Fail to Report Accident
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I Substance (three counts)

Both the accused men have been held for bail.
