The CNE’s annual Youth Day event is now under review after several fights broke out on Tuesday night. Toronto Police say a number of arrests were made.
The CNE closed about two hours early after police were called to the fairgrounds for isolated incidents in specific areas. Youth Day, is the busiest day for the CNE, offering fairgoers under the age of 17 a reduced cover charge of $6.
In a statement, CNE officials say they closed their gates early as a safety precaution.
There were no injuries.
This is the second year in a row that Youth Day at the CNE has caused the fair to close early. Last year, it closed about an hour early due to similar safety concerns surrounding overcrowding.
There were also reports of gunshots last night, but police determined that call to be unfounded.
The CNE wraps up this coming Labour Day Monday, closing with the 67th annual Canadian International Airshow.
